The brand new 3D Model of London 2023 is the latest update of the AccuCities London digital London model. The city model has been in continuous development for over 5 years and this update is its third overhaul geometry update. This update keeps up with the AccuCities customers’ expectations of having the most up-to-date, accurate and detailed 3D city model available for their projects.

Just like with all the previous updates to AccuCities 3D London model, this upgrade is using the latest 2022 aerial imagery. Upgrading the model in just a few months after the imagery was captured represents a leapfrog development in the speed of deployment of a photogrammetry city model production. It also gives us a unique & detailed snapshot of the evolution of London’s built environment since 2016.

Evolution of London from 2016 to 2023

The 3D London 2022 update gives us a unique & detailed snapshot of the evolution of London’s built environment since 2016. Our first 3D London model has been produced in 2017 from the 2016 imagery. The second model was produced in 2020 from the 2019 imagery. This latest 2023 model is produced from the latest high-res aerial survey of London from the second half of 2022.

“We are updating the entire 60 square kilometers of our digital 3D model of London,” says Sandor Petroczi, AccuCities Director. “During the quality assurance process, we were staggered by the amount of change. And not just in the expected areas such as Canary Wharf, Nine Elms or City of London. In every single 1 square kilometer tile, there are tons of significant changes to the built environment. It is now more than ever important for our customers to use the most up-to-date city model and we are really proud to be able to provide it at such a rapid pace.”
